What Makes Our Homes Special

Inexpensive to Maintain and Operate

We appreciate your interest in what we are doing to create homes that are beautiful, inexpensive to maintain and operate, and will continue to be so decade after decade. We build homes for people who are as concerned about the environment, their comfort, their safety, and their wallet as we are.

Some of the things we do, which we believe are important:
TOTALLY MAINTENANCE FREE EXTERIOR - ALL HOMES HAVE:

Some combination of brick, stone, stucco exteriors (all 4 sides)

* Eaves, facia & soffits which are vinyl or aluminum clad

* Decks made of "choice deck" or similar material which never needs painting or staining, do not rot or splinter, and are enclosed with wrought iron

* 8' high, factory finished, stamped steel garage doors

* Any fencing would be of brick, stucco and wrought iron - no maintenance

CONCRETE TILE ROOFS: Yes, they're beautiful and have ultimate durability (Guaranteed Forever), but they're also fireproof (big break on Homeowner Insurance). Other neighborhood fires often spread from roof to roof. Our roofs also have thermal mass that aids in keeping our utility bills low. Monier Tile Roofs www.monierlifetile.com

GEOTHERMAL HOME COMFORT SYSTEMS: We use the energy stored in the earth to heat and cool our homes. We drill 4 to 5 wells (depending on the home size) 180 feet deep into which we insert a tubing loop which allows us to exchange energy with the help of our Water Furnace. In this area (Kansas City) in a conventionally constructed and insulated home of 3300+ SqFt, utilities (gas & electric) will cost from $285 to $350 per month. Our homes run $65 to $110. The Water Furnace has only 3 moving parts; a water pump, a compressor, and a variable speed fan ... all in the utility room (nothing outside the house). The system produces NO carbon monoxide. The homes are extremely comfortable. Water Furnace 1-800-222-5667 or www.waterfurnace.com

RECYCLED CELLULOSE INSULATION: Newspapers, which seriously clog landfills, can be shredded, treated with boric acid and used as thermal insulation in external walls. The boric acid treatment make the cellulose fireproof (nice) with a pleasant bonus effect ... bugs hate boric acid. No cockroaches and spiders in your walls, no silverfish in your attic (very nice). The cellulose is so dense that we use it in many of our interior walls as a sound insulator. For more information, click on the Central Fiber link then click on Cellulose Information. NOTE: The combination of Geothermal and Cellulose makes for an incredibly dust-free home. We have a glass table top which we leave un-dusted for over 6 months at a time and it looks great.

DESIGN & DECOR: In addition to having your new home designed specifically for you by an architect, Stone Ledge also offers the services of our on-staff interior design consultant. The consultant will assist you in the selection and coordination of cabinetry, hardware, floor and wall coverings, plumbing and electrical fixtures and many other details to assure that your personality and desires are truly reflected in your new home.

So, to recap, our homes are safer (no carbon monoxide, low fire hazard), more comfortable, cleaner, bug unfriendly, less expensive to run (lower insurance and utilities) and require little to no outside maintenance.

All our homes are custom built (no two alike) just for you. Prices for your ready-to-move-into home range from $390,000 up (including the lot, landscaping & automatic sprinkler system). How can we help?
